JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mechanical/Industrial Resident Engineer is based in the Vietnam manufacturing facility and is the main communication channel between Product Development Engineering teams in Canada and the Operations departments in Vietnam (Quality, Industrial & Mechanical Engineering, Production and Planning). His/Her main role is to lead problem solving activities and ensure proper communication and follow-up on all product & fabrication and assembly related issues.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mechanical/Industrial Resident Engineer is based in the Vietnam manufacturing facility and is the main communication channel between Product Development Engineering teams in Canada and the Operations departments in Vietnam (Quality, Industrial & Mechanical Engineering, Production and Planning). His/Her main role is to lead problem solving activities and ensure proper communication and follow-up on all product & fabrication and assembly related issues.
- Participate in the evaluation and development of new manufacturing processes & materials with the Product and Manufacturing Engineering Teams;
- Under the supervision of the Manufacturing Manager and supporting the Product Manager, makes decisions on the production floor regarding a deviation or interpretation of the engineering parts & assembly drawings;
- Participate in engineering/assembly projects to increase RFT index;
- Support the production processes and problem solving;
- Continuously seek for best practices and potential projects requesting Engineering changes in the part’s design that would aid the assembly process and product overall quality;
- Participate in New Tool design validating that new tooling will comply with engineering specifications and provide feedback to improve them;
- Evaluate feasibility for Engineering Change Notification (ECN) at production line and ease the implementation of them;
- Help translate EBOMs into MBOMs;
- Communicate on a regular basis with product engineers and technicians based in Canada to maintain product and processes knowledge;
- Perform a thorough analysis of issues to allow an effective problem resolution;
- Participate, perform and/or lead any testing required during an investigation;
- Document and follow-up issues assigned to Research & Development or Manufacturing using DMAAC tool;
- Spend ~ 6 months in late 2024 in the Canadian Development offices and then help implement the production line in Vietnam in 2025 and support production in Vietnam permanently;
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in product or manufacturing development;
- Articulate, respectful and professional communication skills; bilingualism (English and Vietnamese) is essential;
- Must be self-motivated, self-directed and possess strong organizational skills;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Strong teamwork skills with ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing tools considered an asset;
- Knowledge of Siemens Team center solution and SolidWorks cad system is an asse
