Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and operate MongoDB environments including standalone setups, replica sets, and sharded clusters.
Architect and optimize data models to ensure performance and scalability.
Monitor and analyze MongoDB queries, indexes, and execution plans for performance tuning.
Implement robust backup, restore, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
Evaluate and execute queries and data imports based on developer requirements.
Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, Cloud Platform, and Backend teams to advise on system architecture and data-related concerns.
Document technical specifications, operational procedures, and security standards for database systems.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with MongoDB in production environments.
Deep understanding of MongoDB architecture: replica sets, sharding, journaling, write/read concerns.
Proficiency with MongoDB CLI tools: mongo, mongosh, mongodump, mongorestore, mongotop, mongostat, mongoexport, etc.
Strong skills in query optimization, index design, and execution plan analysis.
Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch, Datadog.
Proficient in shell scripting/Bash.
Strong system thinking and troubleshooting skills for complex issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience running MongoDB on Kubernetes (StatefulSets, PVCs, Operators).
Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas or other DBaaS platforms.
Knowledge of database security: encryption-at-rest, TLS, access control, auditing.
MongoDB certifications (Certified DBA or Developer).
Experience mentoring junior engineers or cross-functional teams.
Exposure to other databases such as MySQL/MariaDB or CouchDB.
