The Scrum Master role supports Scrum teams in applying effective practices, strengthening self-management, and improving cross-functional collaboration. The position plays a key part in removing delivery obstacles, supporting backlog activities, and using Scrum metrics to improve team performance.
Responsibilities
Facilitate and support Scrum teams in adopting and effectively applying Scrum practices
Guide team members in developing self-management and cross-functional collaboration capabilities
Help stakeholders and team members understand Scrum principles, theory, and practical implementation
Remove obstacles that may affect team productivity and project progress
Support backlog creation, maintenance, and prioritisation activities
Collect and monitor Scrum metrics to improve team performance and delivery effectiveness
Requirements
More than 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a related role
Strong knowledge of Scrum principles, frameworks, and best practices
Good understanding of software development processes
Japanese proficiency at Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N2 level or above
Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
Independent, responsible, self-motivated, and willing to learn
Programming experience will be an advantage
Scrum certifications such as Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) are preferred
Knowledge of Agile methodologies beyond Scrum, including Lean, Extreme Programming (XP), Test-Driven Development (TDD), or Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD), will be an advantage
Experience living or working in Japan and English communication skills will be advantages
