Job Description

COMPANY OVERVIEW
The Sales Manager will be responsible for attaining plan objectives within an assigned area. This will require the ability to translate marketing plans and strategies into effective operational tactics to be carried out by team members. This position has a strong focus on employee sales training, account management training and business development training, etc. The Sales Manager provides direction for segments, establishing clear goals, strategies and initiatives and driving the necessary changes to ensure achievement of divisional financial and non-financial metrics.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee Development

         Train and provide development opportunities for staff. Ensure annual goals are complete and communicated. Ensure Global Performance Management System is up to date and regular feedback is provided to staff members.

         Monitor and evaluate team members, and adjust training where needed.

         Attract, retain and develop high potential talent.

         Model and promote the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values.

         Perform general management duties, exercising usual authority concerning staff, performance appraisals, promotions and terminations. Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.

         Act as a team role model and change-agent.

         Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.

         Coordinate team efforts, create and manage a regional strategy and team operating plan.

 

Excellence in Execution – drive near-term results and performance

         Achieve maximum levels of productivity, ensuring that the business benefits from the lowest possible cost and best value.

         Develop and implement local, national or strategic sales strategies for customers, channels, and/or large geographic areas.

         Responsible for clear, focused leadership to further reduce the barriers to delivering competitive advantage via global size and scale.

         Actively engage in utilizing company best practices to increase efficiency and profit margins.

         Responsible for delivery of short term and long term results in order to develop and maintain the organization’s credibility with the business and creating opportunities for the function to add greater value to the business.

         Translate market trends and customer needs into actionable goals that create competitive advantage.

         Coordinate team efforts, create and manage a regional strategy and team operating plan.

         Continuously improve the efficiency of daily operations through standardization of processes.

         Coordinate sales service with other service departments and operating areas.

         Oversee the creation and management of territory and account strategies to deliver on price and mix objectives.

         Oversee staff to ensure they are proactively identifying new accounts using screening techniques, referrals, and prospecting to potential customers.

         Align sales department to meet the sales and margin plans.

         Work with prospective customers to identify unmet needs, implement initiatives to meet those needs, leading to successful sales.

         Prepare and manage sales, margin, and expense budgets.

 

Strategic Transformation and Long-term Strategy Development

         Assist Director in developing and implementing long-term Sales strategies that are geared toward developing greater market share and profitability.

         Work with marketing to formulate strategy and select key target markets. Identify prospective customers. Identify unmet customer needs. Work to identify products and processes needed to meet those needs.

         Establish pricing programs and strategies.

         Define the value proposition to the market, customers and industry including service, price and product platform strategies.

         Develop and execute appropriate business plans/multi-generation product plans to identify trends, opportunities for marketplace advantage, and new ideas for products, processes and services.

         Lead benchmarking of Sales-related topics in support of area’s goals.

         Determine and position customer product needs information regarding product quality, industry Best Practices, product applications, and consultative services.

         Develop a pipeline of growth opportunities using Horizon methodologies.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

         Bachelor’s degree required.

         7+ years successful Sales Experience or equivalent with 5+ years Sales Management Experience preferred.

         Skilled in effectively coaching, teaching, and developing solid Sales and negotiation skills within the sales team.

         Expert business acumen; ability to understand short and long-term consequences.

         Demonstrated successful sales experience in a sales position that involved negotiating complex transactions with upper-level management positions or similar experience.

         Skilled in developing sales penetration and growth strategies at targeted accounts.

         Excellent customer needs assessment skills.

         Expert negotiation skills/experience.

         Excellent financial skills and business acumen.

         Skilled in conducting territory analysis and planning.

         Ability to work independently with little supervision.

         Broad-based understanding of how to manage territory business.

         Skilled in communicating effectively with all levels of management on complex business issues.

         Skilled in preparing professional written proposals.

         Skilled in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, invoice totals, percentages, bonuses, etc.

         Excellent understanding of product and technical information.

         Expert customer service skills.

         Expert oral, written and presentation skills.

         Language capability: Fluent in written and speaking English. Written and speaking Chinese is strongly preferred.
