Job Description

I. RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

·         Be a central figure in the manufacturing activities of the facility and will formulate and guide the vision and operations strategy for the site.

·         To develop the facilities Site Plan and will work closely with Distribution /Logistics on key customer issues, and with Corporate Supply Chain on capacity, service levels, cost, and quality matters.

·         To stay abreast of new product introductions and ensure that the ongoing scale up of multiple new products are aligned with new manufacturing platforms.

·         To establish goals and budgets for all operating departments and monitor overall performance against annual plan and will work closely with the management team to ensure that the facility achieves the highest possible level of return on assets and investment and investigate opportunities to achieve synergy with Group headquarters.

·         To represent the company on key environmental and safety issues and will keep the local community informed on all compliance efforts while maintaining strong community ties and will elevate safety awareness through communication, people development, establishing sound policies and practices, and being committed to an injury-free workforce.

*      Specifically, must:

·         Drive and promote performance improvement through manufacturing excellence, continuous improvement, and efficiency.

·         Plan, create and implement technology improvement programs which create competitive advantage in manufacturing.

·         Oversee the use of goals, performance measurement and clear and effective metrics and targets for all operations and facilities.

·         Ensure manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed requirements for cost, quality, delivery, safety, and responsiveness.

·         Partner with staff to assess current processes and identify process improvement opportunities.

·         Support new product launch initiatives and collaborate with the VP, Operations to secure capital funding for growth initiatives.

·         Retain and build a high performing team, as well as define staffing plans for employees and seasonal labor.

 

II. KEY POSITION REQUIREMENTS

1. Education

A Bachelor of Science degree in Polymer, Engineering or related is required. Additionally, an MBA or master’s in science or Engineering would be advantageous.

 2.   Job Experience and Knowledge

The Plant Manager will bring a strong background in operational leadership and experience leading manufacturing. The Plant Manager will be an experienced business leader with at least 15 years of related experience in a batch manufacturing environment. A strong background in continuous improvement, EHS, process engineering, manufacturing and safety is required.

*      Specifically, he/she should have:

·         Operations leadership experience in a batch manufacturing plant of similar size and scale;

·         Track record implementing continuous improvement initiatives;

·          Detailed knowledge of operations best practices in an asset intensive, process manufacturing environment;

·         Strong business acumen with an in-depth understanding of the financial implications of operational strategies;

·          Prior experience and leadership success driving change in culture;

·         Demonstrated track record in operations management, chemical production, and strategic drivers;

·          Potential for promotion to a position of higher responsibility in the company.
