The Business Development Specialist - HR Consulting role offers an opportunity to help establish and grow a new Human Resources (HR) consulting business alongside senior management. Combining business development, organisational strategy, and consulting, the position transforms practical organisational initiatives into valuable client services while contributing directly to business growth.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of a new HR consulting business, covering market research, hypothesis validation, business model development, and revenue generation
Design business strategies by analysing market trends and customer needs, identifying target clients, and developing and validating service concepts
Plan and execute sales activities, including lead generation, proposal preparation, consultation scripts, client meetings, negotiations, and contract closing
Collect customer feedback and collaborate with the Project Management Office (PMO) team to improve services and refine the business model continuously
Coordinate with a management consulting partner by establishing shared key performance indicators, managing project progress, facilitating communication, and supporting effective cross-cultural collaboration
Design, review, and implement organisational strategies, including performance evaluation systems, key performance indicator frameworks, HR regulations, and labour compliance practices
Convert internal organisational initiatives into case studies, consulting methodologies, and client services
Requirements
Japanese-language proficiency at JLPT N2 level or above, with the ability to lead business meetings
Experience independently launching and developing a new business initiative from the ground up
Experience managing the full hypothesis cycle, including development, execution, validation, and continuous improvement
Practical knowledge of and experience in HR
Experience designing, revising, and operating organisational systems from within a company
Preferred qualifications:
Experience supporting the growth of a new business from its initial stage through expansion
Experience designing and executing sales activities, from planning customer approaches through to closing business opportunities
Basic knowledge of labour law, taxation, social insurance, and HR compliance
Ability to understand Profit and Loss statements and Balance Sheets at a level sufficient to manage business profitability
