The Automotive Quality Assurance Manager - Japanese Speaker role leads quality system management, automotive quality control, customer complaint resolution, and supplier quality activities within a manufacturing environment. Based onsite in Ho Chi Minh City, the position works closely with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to maintain quality standards, prevent defects, and support continuous improvement. The working arrangement is Monday to Saturday, with an average of approximately 2 additional Saturdays off per month.
Responsibilities
IATF 16949 Quality System Management
Develop, maintain, and improve the quality management system in accordance with IATF 16949 standards and relevant customer and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) requirements
Plan, organise, and monitor internal audits, process audits, system audits, and preparation activities for external audits
Ensure that quality documentation, procedures, forms, control standards, and quality records are updated, controlled, and consistently applied throughout the plant
Implementation and Control of Automotive Quality Tools
Apply, provide guidance on, and oversee the implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Control Plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) during product development, trial production, and mass production
Evaluate the compliance of relevant departments with quality control plans, inspection standards, and specific customer requirements
Collaborate with engineering, production, and other relevant departments to identify quality risks, improve processes, and prevent defects
Handling Quality Incidents, Customer Complaints, and Field Failures
Prepare and manage problem-resolution reports, including 8D reports, covering root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures
Represent the quality department in communications, explanations, and negotiations with customers, particularly OEM or Tier 1 clients in the automotive industry
Supplier Quality Management
Assess supplier quality capabilities, monitor quality performance, and request improvements when defects arise involving materials, components, or supplier processes
Guide suppliers in conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions, 8D reporting, and measures to prevent recurrence
Requirements
University degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
Experience in quality management within manufacturing environments, specifically automotive components, electrical or electronics, precision engineering, or other quality-focused manufacturing sectors
Solid understanding of and practical experience with IATF 16949; experience in system maintenance and managing internal, customer, or certification audits is preferred
Experience working with OEM, Tier 1, or Tier 2 customers, with an understanding of specific automotive industry quality requirements and customer process audits
Experience investigating field failures, post-delivery defects, and customer complaints, as well as preparing 8D reports
Business-level Japanese proficiency
